It is a product of exploration in form relating to form. What may seem like chaos or randomness at first is actually repeated patterns of form relating to each other to create a rhythm of motion. Textures of sea life came to mind, abstracted from its colorful reef; the monotone palette focuses on the response to the rhythm of the ocean waves.
The sculpture is made from eight yards of polyester fabric weighing only four pounds, held by a PVC pipe frame specially made for its organic shape. The total weight was doubled when the paint and varnish were applied. Spanning a width of 72” by 60”, the artwork is relatively light for its size.
